Kids do the darnedest things, especially to a single dad’s love life. A suddenly aging but talented actor has retained his integrity in spite of an incredibly sparse work schedule. Promoting himself and his career takes on an unexpected complication when his ex-wife decides she has had enough of mothering and sticks the ham with the care of their young, wise-mouthed, spoiled-saccharine daughter. I’ll Do Anything (1994) becomes more than simply the title to a film. The phrase serves as an all-purpose mantra, used to beseech casting agents, to threaten the kid, to butter up the new girlfriend, and to petition the indulgence of a kind and merciful God, assuming such an entity does in fact exist.
