A mad scientist’s deranged experiments turn pretty co-eds into flesh-eating mutants in the Troma-approved B-grade horror vehicle Nightmare Weekend (1986). Directed by genre veteran Henry Sala, the low-budget feature offers a bounty of sex and horror appeal, from the tiny steel balls whose exposure causes victims to morph into zombies, to the feisty scenes of frantic coupling that tend to precede the carnage. Meant to titillate and terrify, Salas’s film accomplishes both ends by casting lovelies Debra Hunter, Kimberly Stahl, and Andrea Thompson in roles that are both alluring and weird.
