El Juego de Luna (2001), or Luna's Game, is referring to the title character, Luna, born in a bar/poker room called Luna, and to the game she devoted all her energy to, poker. Her father has a real bad night of cards, and loses everything they have. He is eventually killed over the debt to gangsters, and his partner in the saloon raises Luna. She grows up ditching school, and playing cards any chance she gets. As she grows up, she just loves poker and the game becomes her life, even more important to her than her lifelong boyfriend, who is serving time for drug use. Her goal is to beat the man who had her father killed.

The film plays more like a soap, and doesn't have any real statements to make, and, for that reason, seemed rather superficial to me. It is movie of the week caliber, and no more. C.

Nudity Report: Ana Torrent, as the 30 year old Luna, shows most of one breast in a post sex scene, and a lot of cleavage shooting pool.
