The 4 Musketeers (2005), inspired by Alexandre Dumas's classic novel The Three Musketeers, throws a spook or two into the seventeenth-century mix for maximum supernatural flavor. French beaut Emmanuelle Béart is Milady de Winter, the hottie du monde that young D'Artagnan (Vincent Elbaz) witnesses sealing a deal with le Devil. Now a reckless, full-grown musketman, Vince is out to save France from the reign of the evil queen, and he turns to his three swashbuckling musket buddies to take down the mysterious, mystical forces that surround the Satanette in Chief. Perhaps the darkest of all the Dumas adaptations, The 4 Musketeers aired on French television as D'Artagnan et les trois mousquetaires. It's a well-done production, but, mon Dieu, why no Emmanuelle in the nude?
