Filmmakers have long looked to Boccaccio’s Decameron for inspiration, but the results are rarely as deliciously ribald as Las Delicias de los verdes años (1976). Antonio Mercero’s adaptation of Juan José Alonso Millán’s play (loosely based on the Boccaccio stories) tells of a young man who promises his dying father that he’ll marry his cousin’s daughter. But when he travels to Madrid to meet his new bride, the groom-to-be falls victim to other seductions. María José Cantudo and Bárbara Rey star as rivals for the young man’s affection--the brunette gets sudsy in the tub, while the blonde focuses her energy on kinky sex games.
