Grave Vengeance, which we caught at our friendly local video rental outlet under the title Hunting Season, is about as low-budget, Grade-Z as a movie can possibly be. We’ve seen better high school productions of “Bye Bye, Birdie,” for crying out loud.

Director Jeff Leroy (notable for such direct-to-video flicks as Hell’s Highway, Eyes of the Werewolf and The Screaming…) spared every expense in this less-than-inspired Hunter-Becomes-the-Hunted fable. The movie opens with Cindy Pena (Last Mountain, Love, Ltd.) and Ken X (who also appeared in Leroy’s Camp Blood 2) taking off for a weekend camping excursion. Naturally, upon arrival in The Great Outdoors, they’re set upon by some “heavily armed” rednecks (who are bearing BB guns, just so you know…) who proceed to rape Cindy. The rest of the movie is filled with flashbacks of the rape scene, a few serene sex scenes with Ken, and an abysmal attempt at drawing suspense from chases through the woods.

The actors are completely wooden, the effects eat bowls and bowls of dick, and the cinematography is as jumpy as an MTV reality series. (So jumpy, indeed, that I nearly lost my lunch.) Besides, the story’s not exactly original… All told, this movie really sucks. If Pena hadn’t bared her enormous, exceptionally bouncy boobs every five minutes or so (even if it is the same scene over and over…) we’d give it an F. We’ll score it a D- just for the rampant gratuitous nudity included therein…

Nudity Report: Pena pulls her poppers out at regular intervals throughout the movie in an attempt to keep the viewer’s attention… It almost works…
