Take one look at sweet-breasted, sugar-butt brunette Paz Vega, the titular heroine of Sex and Lucia (2001). It is right and fitting that the words sex and have been affixed to her screen name. How can the exquisite curvature and weight of her divinely balanced breasts and buns, not to mention the thick spun wool of her fluffy crotch covering, be glimpsed without giving rise to considerations of fornication? Luckily, Sex and Lucia is a joint Franco-Spanish production, people who take their sex dramas seriously. Director Julio Medem’s melodramatic exercise in mistaken identity works on many accounts, not least because he is every bit as fascinated with every inch of Paz Vega as is the eager audience.
