Reminiscent of Brian De Palma’s Blow Out (1981), the indie thriller Soundman (1999) chronicles the misadventures of a talented but unappreciated soundman who’s a slave to direct-to-video westerns and other dead-end filmmaking projects. Instead of backstabbing his way up the Hollywood ladder of success, Igby (Wayne Pere) decides to keep to the high road––an ethically admirable decision that’s perpetually stunted his career. Fortunately Igby’s got an A-list-quality babe to lean on in Liane Alexandra Curtis; the raven-haired bombshell makes everything better when she peels off her top for some on-the-couch grinding.
