The nagging erotic fantasies of three very different women are juxtaposed and explored in Girls’ Night Out (1998), Korea’s very explicit answer to America’s Sex and the City. Popular young screen stars Yejin Kim, Jin Hui-Kyung, and Kang Soo-Yeon assume the lead roles in an ensemble drama that assumes the female perspective on a wealth of issues, including marriage, adultery, taboo sex, and more. All three actresses bare their souls (and in the case of Kim and Hui-Kyung, their bodies) in a brash, no-holds-barred work that sparked a great deal of controversy in its native country.
