A police detective falls for the wrong sophisticate in Patrice Leconte’s saucy French crime drama Circulez y'a rien à voir (1983). Michel Blanc stars as Inspector Leroux, a lovelorn gumshoe who grows smitten with the dashing Madam Duvernet (Jane Birkin). Unbeknownst to Leroux, the luxurious lady is actually at the center of the art-smuggling trade, and soon the cop’s forced to decide whether she’s worth breaking the law for. Birkin’s fetching, but if Leroux’s feeling pragmatic, he might opt to look for less dangerous prey in the form of Gallic redhead Gaëlle Legrand. With a bustline that lives up to her surname, Legrand’s got supple satisfactions to spare.
