Money changes everything, especially when you're talking half a million bucks. The sleepy coastal village that provides the setting for Dark Tides (1998) has seen its share of career frustration and miserable married life, but the motives and actions of a few key inhabitants are agitated to a fever pitch once a dissatisfied couple lucks into a stash of illicit cash. Suddenly the wife is seeing the financial sense of offing her husband, who only wants to blow the wad shooting his wad with cut-rate chicks. Before the bride's pay-for-slay scheme can take effect, the money's rightful owner returns to town with a vengeance and with a tale of mobster treasure hunters. Not everybody will get their money's worth.
