A grieving father embarks on a crusade to punish those he feels are responsible for his daughter’s death in the politically astute thriller Liberty Stands Still (2002). Joe (Wesley Snipes) is so consumed by his daughter’s death at the hands of a school shooter that he hatches a payback plot against a leading gun manufacturer. After kidnapping the man’s wife (Linda Fiorentino), Joe refuses to release her until she agrees to help him prompt a public debate on Second Amendment rights and the role of the gun industry in society. Fortunately Snipes’s character isn’t too filled with rage to get a tad creative--at one point during his hostage taking he asks the lovely Fiorentino to drop her top, exposing some flesh in the process.
