With a title that references two of the greatest publications in American magazine history, expectations are raised to a titillating and absurdly high level by Barely Legal (2003), another gem in the crown of cinematic glories that have borne the National Lampoon imprint. A trio of high-school dudes, majoring in XXX studies, suffers a serious crimp in their one-handed scholarship when the most important of the three is fired from his part-time job at the video store, thus curtailing the kids’ full-time access to porn. But smut-deprived desperation breeds an ingenuity that leads to the mother of masturbation. The boys hit upon the idea of filming an adult entertainment of their own. Naked wit and raw humor ensue.
