Kevin Smith’s low-budget smash Clerks (1994) has proven such a perennial favorite that the New Jersey-enamored director decided to launch a sequel more than a decade later. Alternately titled The Passion of the Clerks, Clerks II (2006) picks up with the lives of Dante (Brian O’Halloran) and Randal (Jeff Anderson)––cash register jockeys who have been laid off from their lousy, minimum-wage jobs. Dante has hopes of quitting his new fast-food gig for horizons outside the Garden State, but Randal proves an unlikely adversary. Of course, $5.15 an hour’s no picnic, but when you’ve got Rosario Dawson and Jennifer Schwalbach Smith to yank up their sweaters, time has a way of passing more quickly.
