It’s sad to say, but being a movie star in Soviet-controlled Yugoslavia in the late-1970s and early-1980s just ain’t what it’s cracked up to be. Take Merima, for example. She started her climb up the Government-endorsed entertainment ladder in 1978 with a bit part in ~Love and Rage~, which helped her to land a recurring role on the television series ~Lanci~ in 1979. Although Merima was quite well-known in Yugoslavia, the shutting out of the rest of the World kept her from attaining the stardom that all entertainers yearn for. Thus, after a stint on the series ~Nase price~ in 1980, and a part in 1981’s more cinematic ~Neka druga zena~, Merima officially dropped off the radar. Thankfully, she left a Skinful legacy, in spite of her conservative Communist government in 1979’s ~Jovana Lukina~.
