La Voz de su amo (2001) is a Spanish combination thriller and love story. Eduard Fernández as Charli, former soccer hopeful before a career ending injury, now works as a bodyguard to a Portuguese businessman who has made a fortune on a dubious stock scam. Now the ETA terrorists are after his entire organization for bilking people out of their money, and the cops are after the terrorists who are killing people almost daily. Charli is asked by his boss to take his 15 year old daughter (Silvia Abascal) to stay with him for her safety. The daughter has a huge crush on him, and he can only resist her sexual advances for so long. When the boss is apparently kidnapped, and people around Charli keep turning up dead, like the boss's girlfriend (Ana Otero), her junkie and her lover, the plot picks up some steam. Can Charli save his boss, avoid the police, and deal with the daughter? And just how much does he approve of the things his boss has done?

Abascal, actually 22 when the film was made, was very believable, both physically and character-wise as the 15 year old seductress. The film was shot in Basque country in Spain, providing breathtaking scenes, which the DP took full advantage of, the art director provided lots of color and detail in interior locations.

Note that the ETA was an actual terrorist group operating in Basque country, and the murders were real. The actual terrorist story has little or nothing to do with this film, however.

Here we have another thriller filmed in good light, without smoke and fog, and with good nudity from a gorgeous woman. Some of the performances were less than Goya caliber, but, overall, it held my interest, and I cared for Charli and the girl, so was invested in the story. I am a tough audience for a thriller, and enjoyed this one. C+

Nudity Report: Abascal showed her breasts, a quick shot of her bush in a very dark scene, and a very nice well-lit view of her buns. Otero shows breasts in a sex scene, and then see though action later in the film.
