Believe it or not, there was a time when the general movie-going audience needed to be informed that the AIDS virus is an equal-opportunity infection, and that time was during the making of Touch Me (1997). Though shameless in its melodramatic heart tugging, this teary-eyed, feel-bad flick is a life-affirming testament to the human spirit and also pays tribute to the inspirational force of renewal that is the male libido. Just like in true life, Touch Me’s male lead is powerless to kick a chick who bears the physical charms of Amanda Peet out of bed just because she tests positive for the fatal bug. Long live blind lust.
