Laura Dern is a journalist who was abducted in South America and tortured, as painfully exposed in flashback form in the drama Down Came a Blackbird (1995). Less disturbing are those sequences when she is shown without a shirt and her Dern-good-looking small wonders are revealed for Mr. Camera. They’re a photogenic pair and make a real splash, especially when she’s gagged and tied with her hands behind her back before being dumped in a swimming pool. Marco . . . Polo . . . you tit! Whatever turns you on, baby. And after watching that, Mr. Skin’s blackbird is rising high.
