Forget about reality TV and science-cop shows, Desperate Housewives brings the soap back into drama, and audiences are flocking to watch some of primetime’s prime-cut meats lather it up. The networks have taken their blows from the unrestrained programming of cable, but now ABC pushes the borders of decency with this scandalous take on suburbia. The horny hotties behind the quiet picket fences have been down this road before. Marcia Cross comes from Melrose Place, Nicollette Sheridan is a transplant from Knots Lnading, and erotically exotic Eva Longoria got fans restless with her daytime stint on The Young and the Restless (not to forgot the top-heavy talents of Teri Hatcher). But none of those hits got as skinful as this nighttime ratings winner, which will insure continued loyalty, if only to see if a nip slips past the censors.
