The great pity of medical science is that its brightest brains have failed to keep pace with the imagination of Hong Kong cinema. In Naked Poison (2000), a Cantonese production directed with an eye for good medicine gone bad by Chin Man Kei, a Chinese doctor's son takes possession of his deceased father's magical potions and herbs and uses the secrets of the ancient healers to wreak havoc upon everyone who has ever slighted him. The doctor's kid develops an aphrodisiacal venom that not only causes any woman in his presence to submit with fervor to his sexual advances, but also wipes her memory of the experience the next morning. Talk about a cure for male performance anxiety! The true tragedy of Naked Poison is that the movie ends before this elixir has a chance to be marketed in the United States.
