When the French try their hand at horror the results are not necessarily scary, but, as Trouble Every Day (2001) proves, they’re sexy. In this arty tale that equates sex with cannibalism and consumerism, the filmmaker doesn’t forget about France’s trademark eroticism. Vincent Gallo suffers vampirism that makes him look hungrily at the pink meat of his wife, played by Tricia Vessey. That same muff-lust is shared by the audience. Who can get enough of Tricia’s fur-pie or her rosy nips? Béatrice Dalle shows both her hairy bits and her hanging parts, and Florence Loiret keeps the flesh uncovered. It’s enough to put a stake in your heart-on.
