A sophisticated plot wasn’t on the list of priorities for director Tin-Si Lau when he lensed his Hong Kong erotic comedy Sex and the Central (2003). A narrative-bereft softcore venture, Tin-Si’s flick exists as a showcase for its luscious lead actress, Sophie Ngan. Fortunately the lithe Asian sexpot is up to the acting challenge, moving seductively between triple-X set pieces. From a vigorous screwing session on a sturdy piece of office furniture to an orgiastic encounter between Ngan and her giggling girlfriends, Sex and the Central very effectively earns its billing by putting human coupling front and center.
