Boy, does Rufus Sewell have a hangover in Dark City (1998). He’s woken up with memories of a wife he doesn’t really have. Also, he’s clearly a serial killer who’s never harmed anyone in his life. The problem turns out to be aliens who are using a very small world as a sociological experiment, gleefully changing people’s identities on a whim. Fortunately, weird scientist Kiefer Sutherland is on hand to clear things up—and to help Rufus track down Jennifer Connelly as the gorgeous noir gal who’s his rightful lay. Meanwhile, the aliens show great taste by casting Melissa George as a naked sex bomb.
