Acclaimed German director Lars Becker based his pulse-pounding thriller Nachtschicht – Vatertag (2004) on a popular pulp novel about a group of detectives who work the graveyard shift at a busy Hamburg precinct. The first installment in a continuing series, Vatertag follows the detectives as they attempt to free hostages from a deadly bank hold-up. Though her role is a small one, vivacious German beauty Jasmin Gerat keeps the action pulsing as an exotic dancer who shimmies the night away at an upscale nightclub.
