The Wings of the Dove (1997), an adaptation of the Henry James novel, stars Helena Bonham Carter as one of literature’s great romantic sociopaths. She’s an outcast socialite looking for a chance to marry into money. The only problem is that her true love is a reporter who doesn’t care about wealth. Helena figures out a perfect plan after she befriends rich orphan Alison Elliott. She simply sets up her lover with the dying heiress and waits to marry into the inevitable inheritance. Things don’t go as planned, but a final sex scene provides male viewers with a very happy ending.
