Review
Madron is as typical a Western as one can come by. That is, excepting the fact that it was filmed entirely in Israel and used Israeli actors as the “Bad Guy Injuns.”
The film starts out with “Sister Mary,” played with a teaspoonful of innocence by Leslie Caron and her wagon train being attacked by the Bad Guy Injuns. Naturally, they’re all hoots and hollers and the only reason they attack the wagon train is in order to fulfill their daily “Bad” quotient. Welcome, class, to Stereotypes 101.
However, Sister Mary isn’t dead, so she sets about burying all her fallen comrades, then heads off into the sunset on the way to her destination as planned. Being a woman alone in the desert isn’t easy, though, so our title character, played by Richard “Hec Ramsey” Boone enters the picture to help lead the otherwise helpless young lady along. Welcome, class, to Equality in Women’s Studies, 101…
The rest of the film, sadly, is quite predictable and not-at-all that good, considering one can always get another Clint Eastwood gem out to watch in its stead. Naturally, there’s a happy-sappy ending following an hour-and-a-half of “opposites attract” stereotypical bickering and unavoidable acceptance. Like we said, though, it’s nothing special. Even for a Western, it barely scores a C-.
Nudity Report: In a scene meant only to shock and not in the least to further the plot, Caron’s top gets ripped open, briefly exposing one of her breasts.
Critics’ Vote: Apollo gave it 60/100.
IMDb Summary: 6.8/10
