An upper-class couple in Versailles has been living the high life, but the husband is beginning to suspect The Unfaithful Wife (1969). She's Stéphane Audran, and she is out of this world, so of course she's not going to stay in hubby's orbit forever! Her jealous mister hires a private dick to get to the botytom of things, but when it turns out that the other man is  a writer (Maurice Ronet), things get bloody.
