While Americans were getting titillated with Valley of the Dolls (1967), moviegoers south of the border were getting their kicks with El Valle de los Miserables (1974). Directed by genre veteran René Cardona Jr., the racy adventure thriller takes place in a Mexican countryside rife with violence and murder. Female leads Mariana Lobo and Alma Muriel plunge into danger, but unfortunately only one lives to tell the tale. Lobo’s final flesh flash occurs as she’s twisting from the noose, but Muriel manages to get everybody’s blood circulating by baring her breasts for a lascivious suitor.
