Rich people have always been crazy, and their daughters have always been a pain in the ass to marry, if the socio-economic and romantic relationship dynamics evident in the horror period piece Demons of the Mind (1972) are any indication. Horse-drawn carriages and billowing petticoats aside, the plotlines of this Hammer Studios gothic extravaganza could easily be torn from today’s headlines. A mouth-watering nubile is snatched from the embrace of her fiancé and taken back to the home of her father, there to undergo treatment from a disgraced psychiatrist. But her woes are caused by Daddy’s projected guilt. The old money bags has a periodic habit of abducting and slaughtering lowly damsels from the village! Will the earnest boyfriend save her, or will he be consumed himself?
