Psycho Beach Party (2000) is a hee-larious spoof of the bikini beach epics of the '60s. But where those films were innocent and sweet, this comedy ramps up the sexy subtext of the originals for a fully wild and wicked entertainment. The movie is based on an off-Broadway revue by Charles Busch, who starred as the lead, Chicklet, onstage but wisely chose to lose the drag and place Six Feet Under star Lauren Ambrose in the part for the film. She plays a goodie-goodie schizoid whose other personality is a red-hot sexpot and possibly a murderess. But is she really the killer? There are lots of suspects, including her black-lace-bra-wearing mother, played by Beth Broderick. Forget the private eyes, the privates are more interested in investigating Amy Adams, who's bottomless scene pleases both your funny bone and your boner.
