Teens discover love, sex, and themselves in the bucolic 1970s teen flick Sieben Sommersprossen (1978). While at holiday camp in the country, East German teenagers experiment with each other both emotionally and physically while also trying to launch a production of Romeo and Juliet. This is a tender and evocative look at young people behind the Iron Curtain. Kareen Schröter runs around a pristine meadow, and we get excellent views of her succulent sugar cubes as well as some ’70s bush.
