Carmen Maura plays a harried single mother who’s forced to keep her jealous ex-husband at bay in the frantic Spanish comedy ¿Qué hace una chica como tú en un sitio como éste? (1978). The popular Spanish actress (and Pedro Almodovar regular) sinks her teeth into the part of Rosa, a mother of two who can’t manage to escape the meddling Jorge (Hector Rotaeta) even with a full set of divorce papers. The bullying husband does get a tad overzealous, but it’s tough to blame him--when he lifts Maura’s skirt during one rough encounter, it’s easy to see how her stockings might be worth stalking.
