An early work from Jean-Luc Godard, Une femme mariée: Suite de fragments d'un film tourné en 1964 (1964) is the story of a middle-class housewife engaged in an affair with another man. As she is torn between her desire for either solid, bourgeois comfort or romance, she keeps up a running dialogue with herself regarding her two lovers and the expectations of society. An unwanted pregnancy serves to confuse things even more. Ignore the giant bloomers on Macha Méril and instead focus on the sweet little left teatlet she eventually exposes.
