A harmless bet leads to a scandalous infatuation in the sudsy Italian thriller Scandal (1971). Malisa Longo stars as Cristiana, a nubile schoolgirl who takes a fancy to a handsome young teacher at her school (Glenn Saxson). On a lark, Cristiana bets her boyfriend that she can successfully seduce the prof before he can woo the teacher’s wife, and the pair quickly gets busy strutting their stuff. But whereas her boyfriend takes everything in fun, Cristiana becomes consumed with the idea of bedding the older man, to the point where her classmates decide to teach her a vicious lesson. Director Sergio Bergonzelli knows how to ratchet up the suspense, but he’s equally adept at pulling back and letting his camera linger on his co-starlets. Longo and actresses Antonella Murgia and Patricia Reed all go full frontal in this spicy Mediterranean flick.
