The spectacularly titled Sept morts sur ordonnance (1975)—or Seven Deaths by Prescription—features the spectacular little tittles of Jane Birkin and a spookily perfect story. It's the tale of Michel Piccoli, a surgeon who's just come back to work after having himself a heart attack. He's having a hard time dealing with the head of a nearby clinic, a guy who's hounding and hassling him. In his harried state, he becomes obsessed with the story of Gerard Depardieu, a surgeon who once battled the same aggravating man and ended up succumbing to the pestering and pressure. Gerard killed himself, his wife, and his kids, and now the same thing is happening to Michel. Can he find his way out of this professional hell?
