Johanna Klante

Her father, director Diethard Klante, helped Johanna at getting some early acting jobs. She debuted in Hanni und Hilde erzählen Märchen, a series of kiddie shorts that earned the back then 6-year-old her first critical recognition. Nevertheless it took Johanna a while until she received what one might call her big break. It came in 2000 when she was cast to play the female lead in the Canadian-German co-production Bonhoeffer: Agent of Grace opposite Ulrich Tukur and Susanne Lothar. The movie won a Golden Nymph at the Monte Carlo TV Festival and made her a very busy actress, seeing that she subsequently gathered no less than nine other credits over the following two years. One of them was the made for TV drama Hannas Baby that united Johanna with her father who directed it.
