Christopher Walken walks his patented line between horror and deadpan comedy in The Prophecy II (1997), a direct-to-video sequel to the popular original. Walken reprises his role as the glamorous archangel Gabriel, who’s hell bent on single-handedly destroying the human race. Together with his peppy teen sidekick (Brittany Murphy), Gabriel sets out to destroy the unborn angel child of Valerie Rosales (Jennifer Beals), thereby throwing the violent battle between good and evil forces into utter disarray. Eric Roberts and Glenn Danzig help give Greg Spence’s horror thriller some B-movie muscle, but Beals also comes through by delivering a flash of nip amidst some melodramatic acting.
