Co-scripted by a makeup artist and his wife, Inseminoid (1981) is an outer space killer thriller chronicling the diminishing population of an interstellar archeological team that has unwittingly given safe harbor to a murderous alien presence. Astute viewers may notice a resemblance to Alien (1979). Like that big-budget, franchise-making story of deep space suspense, the nemesis of Inseminoid has secreted itself within the body of a crew member. The difference is that Inseminoid’s carrier host is a woman, Judy Geeson, who has become impregnated by the alien bogey, which gives opportunity for an attractive blonde woman to run around slashing and stabbing her cohorts and guzzling goblets of human blood, a development that no amount of big-budget studio tomfoolery could hope to match.
