Dallas was such a big hit back in the 80’s that producers quickly scrambled to generate a few lazy spin-offs. Knots Landing bucked the trend by actually taking off on its own popularity. Such was not the case for The Colbys despite its “top-line” cast, which included Charlton Heston, Ricardo Montalban, Barbara Stanwyck and Emma Samms. This one proved too much of a mediocre thing and was promptly yanked after two full seasons.
