Review

Part Marxist polemic, part surrealist farce, the offbeat Italian comedy La Proprietà non è più un furto (1973) is a singularly strange slice of celluloid. Directed by Elio Petri, the creative mind behind Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion (1970), the film stars Flavio Bucci as a bank teller with a curious allergy to money. In fact, the clerk finds currency so detestable that he devises a scheme to liquidate the assets of wealthy patrons as a kind of favor to them. No less curious are the sex scenes with goth vixen Daria Nicolodi--the dark-haired beauty gets sensuous in the shadows a number of times in this slanted cult classic.
