Oxford-educated English strumpet Emily Mortimer first made a splash Stateside with a meaty role (pun very much intended) in the Val Kilmer flick The Ghost and the Darkness (1996). After a few forgettable turns in British productions, she returned to Kilmer's side in The Saint (1997). Her career has mostly been centered on European films such as The Last of the High Kings (1996) and Elizabeth (1998). She has gained some notoriety in the United States for the films Notting Hill (1999), Scream 3 (2000), and The Kid (2000), opposite Big Daddy Bruce Willis. Emily's first naughty role was in Coming Home (1998), in which she appeared in some state of undress in numerous scenes. Gee. Do you think Lorraine is Irish? It sure seems that way, considering that all of her films have something or another to do with the Emerald Isle, and all of them, saving 1991’s ~L’Irlandaise~, which is French, but somehow about Ireland, were filmed there. That isn’t to say that none of her credits have been noteworthy; she ~did~ appear in ~The Boxer~ opposite Daniel Day-Lewis, as well as in ~All Things Bright and Beautiful~ and ~The Last of the High Kings~ opposite Gabriel “Terminally Underrated” Byrne.
