The third entry in the very popular “Erotic Ghost Story” series, Liao zhai san ji zhi deng cao he shang (1992) is full of mystical strangeness, otherworldly obsession, and sensuality from beyond the grave. Disillusioned with the gradually declining society of the Tang Dynasty, Chu and Suzy travel the Chinese countryside, eventually stopping in the shelter of an ancient temple. It’s there that they meet a mystical (and fairly insane) monk named Wick, who helps Chu (who is now obsessed with an ethereal goddess called I-Meng) travel into another dimension to find his love. But all is not as it seems: I-Meng is actually a vicious, sex-starved demon! It’s up to Wick and Suzy to pull Chu back into the real world . . . but will he want to go?
