The cult classic slasher flick Pieces (1982) opens with a boy putting together a puzzle picturing a naked woman. Then when his mother bursts in the room and begins yelling at him, the boy hacks her to pieces, splattering the puzzle with blood. Then the action moves to the present, when the gruesome murders of women on a college campus prompts the police to send in a tennis-pro-cum-detective (Lynda Day George) undercover as a tennis instructor. When this isn’t enough, they enlist the help of a student (Ian Sera) who had earlier been a suspect. After numerous bloody killing sequences (including one topless girl who visibly pees in her pants), a kung fu fight, and a good amount of nudity, the killer is revealed. But it’s the shock ending, second only to Sleepaway Camp (1983), that has to be seen to be believed.
