The symbiotic but hostile relationship between crooks and cops keeps them always prowling in the same neighborhoods, preoccupied with the same endeavors, and subject to similar work-related stresses and hazards. Still the worlds of law and lawless remain completely alien to one another, particularly when there exist also barriers of language and culture. A brash and highly decorated Irish American detective determines to bring down the ruthless mastermind of New York City’s secret and deadly Chinese mafia in Year of the Dragon (1985). There is so much that these two men, both governed by unchecked force of will, cannot share with one another. In the important matters--bloodshed, violence, and vengeance--their souls are twins.
