Review
Goldfinger was Sean Connery's third outing as Bond, and he had the part cold by this time.
The film is chock full of memories. Shirley Bassy singing the title song, the sight of a gold plated Shirley Eaton, and the character name Pussy Galore are icons of western culture. Odd Job, the bodyguard with a practical hat, and Gert Fröbe as Auric Goldfinger made great enemies. Bond discovers a plot to detonate a nuclear device inside Fort Knox, contaminating the US gold supply, and making Goldfinger's holdings worth 10 times as much. The film has gadgets, chases, action, women, Q, M and Moneypenny, a great title song and score, and interesting opening credits.
As Leonard Maltin says, "Not every man wants to be James Bond, but every boy does." I would add that there is a little boy in every man.
Critics Vote: The critics love this one, with Berardinelli and Leonard Maltin giving it 3 1/2 stars, and Roger Ebert a perfect 4 starts.
