Directed by the enigmatically named Noli, the hip British drama Married/Unmarried (2001) chronicles the uneasy, sexually charged lives of four intimates. Paolo Seganti and Gina Bellman star as a flailing husband and wife who find their lives turned around after an encounter with a pair of swingers (Ben Daniels and Kristen McMenamy). The unhappily married pair soon discovers that there’s no better cure for the monogamy blues than a quick slip between the sheets with a member of the opposite sex. The BBC called the film’s “lashings of kinky sex, full frontal nudity, and smutty monologues . . . just plain embarrassing,” but those things are never short of wildly entertaining. Bellman and McMenamy both do the Union Jack proud by humping their way to the finish line.
