Dagobert (1984) is a comedic period piece set in tenth-century France, when the French were still little more than barbarians. Good King Dagobert, on his way to visit the pope in Rome, is attacked by highwaymen and barely survives. Bedeviled by all manner of sexual and gastric distress, he nevertheless makes it to pay homage to his holiness, only to find himself embroiled in a absurd political drama concerning who will be the next pope. It’s low-brow fun for the entire family. Rounding out the fun is a perfect scene featuring Carole Bouquet’s stunning backside.
