When deadbeat dad Jeff Bridges decides the way to get out of the financial hole is to film other people filling women’s holes onscreen, shenanigans ensue. Yes, that’s the plot of The Amateurs (2005), a feel-good—in every sense of the word—look at a small town’s attempt to make a porno movie. While the movie is populated with more hotties than your typical adult feature—Melinda Dahl, Judy Greer, Glenne Headly, and Fiona Hunter—it’s the real pro who takes up the skin duties here. Valerie Perrine has been showing off her talents since Steambath (1972), but until her nude scene here she had stopped the music with Can’t Stop the Music (1980). A half century later she still moves our Village People.
