What is it with intelligent, attractive, successful women and their insistence upon attaching themselves to glib, hyper-groomed gay guys? These women, perspicacious in so many other ways, somehow fail to see that neither they nor the bent gents they partner up with will be happy in the long run without a helping of outside penis entering the picture. The totally hot and well-intentioned heroine of The Object of My Affection (1998) decides upon being knocked up by her lout of a heterosexual boyfriend that a better idea is to raise the child in the improvised family of she, her homo soul mate, and baby-to-be. Her special friend actually goes along with the plan, but then he finds a new boyfriend, rocking this unorthodox arrangement to its very unique foundations.
