A sweeping international co-production with a decidedly political bent, Campanas rojas (1982) chronicles spirited revolutionary movements that occurred in the first part of the twentieth century. Set in Mexico and the would-be Soviet Union, the film highlights key historical players, including rebel fighter Emiliano Zapata, journalist John Reed, and other legends. In spite of the solemn subject matter, the freedom fighters know how to kick back and relax--there are a couple of feisty nude flashes from female co-stars Ursula Andress and Blanca Guerra.
